What is The Glebe Community Garden?
The Glebe is a new community garden project in the heart of Keith, funded by the NHS Grampian Charity’s Community Grant. Our aim is to encourage people to come together, share skills and knowledge in growing food locally. The beautiful natural space offers a peaceful environment, supporting mental health, neurodiversity, and emotional wellbeing. Participants and volunteers have the opportunity to grow skills through gardening, nature activities and teamwork.

What happens on the day?
We meet at the beginning of each session for a brief check-in to see how everybody feels and outline tasks for the day. Individuals always have a choice as to what task they want to carry out.
Activities on site can include: sowing seeds, planting, harvesting fruit and vegetables, garden maintenance, and nature crafts.
Half-way through the session we have a tea break where we offer a selection of healthy snacks and refreshments. There will be dairy free and gluten free options available.
How do we support participants?
Clients are supported by the community gardeners in the first instance. The project also has committed volunteers who have been approved for working with vulnerable adults by Disclosure Scotland. Clients are welcome to bring a support worker with them.
The Glebe gardeners are not trained mental health professionals, but they are always there to support individuals and make the sessions as enjoyable as possible.
The Glebe garden is a welcoming and accessible space for all abilities, and conditions, and we offer a range of ergonomic and adaptable tools.
