It’s that time of year again when you may be eligible to apply for the £140 Warm Home Discount (WHD)! Some energy providers have already opened up their Warm Home Discount (WHD) schemes and others are due to open shortly. If you haven’t already heard of the WHD scheme, it is a one-off credit to your electricity bill of £140 to help with winter heating costs and is usually applied directly to your account by 31st March the following year.
If you get the guarantee element of Pension Credit you should qualify automatically. The ‘Broader Group’ are people on other benefits who must re-apply annually. If you are eligible as part of the Broader Group the sooner you apply the better, as applications are dealt with on a first-come-first-serve basis.
