Christmas Session at New Elgin Community Garden @ Behind New Elgin and Ashgrove Public Hall
Dec 11 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

The last REAP session of 2021 at the New Elgin Hall community garden will be led by Dorothy on Saturday 11th of December 10 am till noon.

We will be making a herb spiral using donated bricks and herbs propagated from the herbery in the garden. There will be some warmed minted apple juice to warm everyone up, then the paper cups will be potted up to take home and grow on.   We will have some natural Christmas crafts for all ages to do, and as always, we will harvest any of the lovely fruit and veg that’s ready to pick.

Please only attend if you are Covid symptoms free.  Track and Trace details will be taken on arrival.

As always, the sessions are free for all ages and gardening abilities. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration.  Wear warm waterproof clothing and sturdy boots, look for the signs to the garden and the REAP flag.

Big Energy Savings Winter Presentation @ Gallery Room, Elgin Library
Dec 14 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Big Energy Savings Winter Presentation @ Gallery Room, Elgin Library
Moray CAB are working in collaboration with REAP (Rural Environmental Action Project) and HES (Home Energy Scotland) to deliver two events scheduled for Tuesday 14th December and Monday 24 January 2022. Both events will be held at Elgin Library Gallery between 1pm and 3pm.
The Big Energy Saving Winter campaign is launched today and will run for the next two months. It aims to help people save money by using less energy, and also provide information on grants that are available to help people who are in crisis.
The support the CAB can give you includes:
• Helping you identify grants or benefits that you may be entitled to but don’t know about.
• Talking to your energy supplier on your behalf, to re-structure any debts you may have and see if there’s any way they can help.
• advising you on ways that you can cut energy use in your home, which could help with your bills.
• Advising you on how to use your prepayment meter, or what to do if your energy supplier has gone out of business.
The campaign comes during a ‘perfect storm’ for consumers this winter, with increasing energy bills following the price cap rise in October, rising inflation meaning higher prices in the shops, as well as reductions to Universal Credit.
